Epiphany Cakes ("we", "us") is a bakery at 1124 Stanley Street, Nelson, BC V1L 1P5. This policy explains what personal information we collect through epiphanycakes.com, why we collect it, and the choices you have. We follow British Columbia's Personal Information Protection Act (PIPA) and Canada's federal privacy law where it applies.
What we collect
When you place an order. Your name, email address, phone number, delivery address or pickup details, the date and time you choose, your order details (including cake size, flavour and inscription), and any note you add.
When you pay. Payments are processed by Square. Your card details go directly to Square and are not stored on our website or seen by us. We receive confirmation of payment and limited details such as the last four digits of the card.
When you contact us. If you use our Contact or Wedding Inquiry form, we receive the information you enter, such as your name, email, phone number, event date and message.
Gift certificates. Gift certificates are sold through Square. Square collects the information needed to process and deliver them.
Automatically. Like most websites, we collect technical information such as your IP address, browser, device and the pages you visit.
How we use your information
- To prepare, deliver and confirm your order, and to contact you about it.
- To reply to your questions and wedding inquiries.
- To run our store, keep records and meet tax and accounting requirements.
- To understand how the website is used and improve it.
- To keep the website secure and prevent fraud and abuse.
We do not sell your personal information.
Who we share it with
We share information only with the services that help us run the website and business:
- Square, to process payments and gift certificates.
- WooCommerce and our web hosting provider, which store order and website data.
- Brevo, which sends our website emails, such as order confirmations and form notifications.
- Google Analytics (through Site Kit), which gives us anonymous statistics about website use.
- Delivery: if you choose delivery, we use the address you give us to deliver your order.
These providers may store information outside Canada, including in the United States, where it is subject to the laws of that country. We may also disclose information if the law requires it.
Cookies
Our website uses cookies. Essential cookies keep the shopping cart and checkout working. With your consent, we also use cookies for statistics. You can change your choice at any time using the cookie settings link on our website. Our cookie settings list the cookies we use and why. You can also block or delete cookies in your browser, though the store may not work properly without the essential ones.
How long we keep it
We keep order and accounting records for as long as the law requires, which is generally at least eight years for tax purposes. Form enquiries are kept only as long as needed to respond and for reasonable follow-up.
How we protect it
The website uses HTTPS encryption, and we use security software and limit who can access order information. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, but we take reasonable steps to protect your information.
Your choices and rights
You can ask to see the personal information we hold about you, ask us to correct it, or ask us to delete it where we are not required to keep it. You can also withdraw your consent to our use of your information, though this may limit what we can do for you. To make a request, contact us using the details below. We will respond within a reasonable time.
